Episode 21
I got to his office and I was expecting him to also talk about the strange reconciliation between Benita but I was wrong, he talked about some errors that were detected from the works of my team members and he warned me to always scrutinize every work before it gets out of my unit to the higher units.
I was returning back to my office and I heard noises and gossips going on in my office. I hid beside the entrance to hear all what they are saying.
“didn’t I tell you?” “ I told you that they will settle their issue”
“I know it’s more of relationship issue than office issue”
“didn’t you notice that the misunderstanding happened overnight?”
“yes, they both drove out of the bank together that particular night”
“only for them to return the next day with drawn faces”
“can’t you also see that the reconciliation also happened overnight?”
“they just resumed this morning and started hugging each other”
“these are two people that didn’t say goodnight to each other on Friday evening”
“it seems they were dating before the commencement of this project”
“don’t tell me that you weren’t aware of their relationship?”
“they used to leave the office together and also resume work together back then”
“nawaooooo, see office romance”
“I am sure that it was Funmi that settled it for them”
“I don’t think so, Funmi did not like Benita the way she likes Onihaxy”
“maybe it was the supervisor that settled it for them”
“I don’t think so, it seemed they settled it over the weekend between each other”
“I am very sure that Benita reconciled with Onihaxy because of what Funmi said”
“yes!!, you mean the permanent placement?, I thought as much”
“I noticed that their closeness started immediately after that speech”
“you know that Onihaxy is very close to Funmi and Onihaxy is the one to nominate for Funmi?”
“and you know that it was Funmi that helped Onihaxy to be retained after the last project”
“I think that is why Benita decided to reconcile with Onihaxy for placement nomination”

I was amazed at their level of gossiping and was enjoying every bit of it until I saw Benita coming behind me, I asked her where she was coming from and she told me that she went to the rest room.
On hearing our voices, they all kept quiet and they began to clear their throats as we both enter the office and sat down on our various seats.
I called for an urgent meeting to tell them about what I heard from the supervisor, I warned everyone to make sure that they concentrate on their work and that they should make sure they remember to do some quality checks on everything they do before sending their reports to me. Lastly on that day, I made them realize that I will not hesitate to send out queries to any one whose work contains errors henceforth.
By Wednesday, the rumor had circulated across the offices that Onihaxy and Benita had reconciled and settled their fight, Funmi even called me into her office and she told me that “Onihaxy, now that you and your wife Benita are now back together, I think it’s the best time for you to stay away from my daughter Adeola so that you will be able to concentrate on your wife Benita”, I just smiled and I told her again that I had nothing to do with Adeola.
On Thursday after the close of business for the day, I had a chat with Segun when I got home.
SEGE: hello Onihaxy, you need to see what my wife sent to me?
ME: your wife?, which of them?
SEGE: Sandra of course, or did I tell you that I have more than one?
ME: I know some other ones now.
SEGE: I said my wife sent something to me, I didn’t say my girlfriends.
ME: ooh, I never knew they have different categories, what did she send?
SEGE: brand new Iphone and a gold wristwatch
ME: you don dey hammer that girl abi?, so soon, how come?
SEGE: you are the one dulling yourself with Betty now. Anyway, Betty knows how to give you things without you asking for it. Unlike my own Sandra, you just have to pressurize and disturb her before getting anything from her.
ME: funny you Segun, you know that you guys are just starting now, did you know the number of months we have been together before I started reaping my harvests?, just calm down and first work out your love with her, I’m sure you will reap yours very soon.
SEGE: I hear oooo. I know I will soon get my own car too from my wife.
ME: hmmmmmmm, bad boy, don’t turn my wife’s friend into a maga ooo.
SEGE: I hear you. How are your babes?, Adeola and Benita?
ME: Adeola is fine, Benita and I just reconciled not quite long. Immediately after Funmi made an announcement in one of our meetings that some project staffs will be retained and team-leads will be the one to nominate them, she started smiling at me and she found her way to reconcile with me.
SEGE: I told you, that girl is a pure opportunist, always looking for every available opportunity. Just be careful and stay out of trouble.

On Friday evening after the close of business, Benita followed me to the car and I was thinking that she was going to her sister’s place, but when I made enquiry from her, she told me that she wanted to talk to me.
BENITA: Onihaxy, please I need your help, I should have come to you before now but I was scared to approach you.
ME: scared to approach me?, why?, for what?
BENITA: because you might be thinking otherwise if I tell you.
ME: ok, what is the matter?, I am listening.
BENITA: I have been restless since last week that your sugar mummy talked about permanent placement and I don’t know anywhere to run to for help except you. I know you can influence my placement with her since you are even the one to nominate from my team. I beg you in the name of God Onihaxy, I need this job so badly.
ME: oooh, now I get it. Was it because of the job placement thing that made you finally decided to reconcile with me?
BENITA: it’s not so Onihaxy, I was already tired of fighting long time ago and I have always wanted to reconcile with you but I was really expecting you to be the one to initiate the reconciliation movement. Please Onihaxy, help me and I will be grateful to you for the rest of my life.
ME: anyways, all our reports are been viewed by the management from the Excel on daily basis and I can tell you, they already know the hardworking ones. All what Funmi said was just to boost team members’ loyalty to their team leads. She knows that when people hear something of such, they will respect and obey their boss and they will also do things right.
BENITA: I know, but Onihaxy please help me. I know the closeness between you and Funmi and I know that you can help me to influence my placement please.
ME: ok Benita, I have heard you, I will try my best and see what I can do,
BENITA: thanks so much Onihaxy, you are a darling *****kissed me inside the car****
Benita came down from the car while I drove off from the bank and went home.
On Saturday morning, I received a scary call from Betty.
BETTY: hello Onihaxy, have you heard anything from my brother and his wife lately?
ME: not at all. What happened?
BETTY: my brother called me few minutes ago; he said Aunty Bimpe lost her pregnancy.
ME: lost her pregnancy?, how come?
BETTY: she had a miscarriage.
ME: haaaaaaaaaaa, I am so sorry about that. How did it happen and where is she now?
BETTY: I don’t know ooo, but I was told that she was admitted at the hospital where she works
ME: is your brother around?
BETTY: yes, he didn’t travel. Please can you help me to check on her today? sobbing
ME: its ok Betty, stop crying. God knows the best, he gives and he takes. It’s better now than for the child to die at grown up stage. God will surely bless her with another pregnancy very soon.
BETTY: Amen oooo. Ok dear, please help me to check on them today please. Talk to you later
ME: ok dear, bye,
Immediately after Betty dropped the call, I was very happy and I started singing thanksgiving songs onto God
Episode 22
I was so joyous and happy that one of my problems had been solved supernaturally by God, I began to reason and think about what could have happened if Henry later find out that the two kids did not belong to him.
“At least, one skeleton is safer than two in the cupboard” I thought to myself as I picked my phone and was scrolling through the contacts. I dialed Henry’s number but it wasn’t going through, I dialed Adebimpe’s number also and I couldn’t get through to her also.
I remembered that I have been to the hospital before through public transport but I wasn’t too sure if I could get through the road if I was to drive myself, I decided to go with the public “Danfo” bus.
I arrived at the hospital and met the receptionists, I told them I wanted to see a lady who worked with them and was also admitted in the hospital as a result her miscarriage, they further asked me about her name and I replied them that she is Bimpe. Immediately, one of the nurses in the reception said “that should be Mummy Daniella” and I replied her saying “yes, she is the one”, they described and gave me directions to her ward and I went there to see her.
I climbed through the staircase of the clinic, looking at the ward numberings on the wall until I finally arrived at the ward where she was admitted, I met her crying on the bed which she lay on and Henry sitting down beside her, trying to console her, a nurse was also in the room with her who was consoling her too, I walked close to the bed and greeted Henry.

ME: handshake hello Mr. Henry, sorry about what happened to your wife and sorry about the loss
HENRY: thank you so much Onihaxy, How did you get to know about what happened what happened?.
BIMPE: *****still crying and we were all consoling her*****
ME: it was Betty that called me this morning to inform me on phone. I even tried your number immediately after receiving Betty’s call but it wasn’t going through, I tried Mummy Daniella’s own too and it was still not going through and since Betty said she was admitted here and I have been here before, then I decided to come
HENRY: thank you so much Onihaxy, I really appreciate it so much
ME: how did it really happen?
HENRY: she just woke up this morning to ease herself in the rest room and she slipped on the tiles and hit her buttocks against the floor. That’s all, the next thing we saw was blood.
ME: eeyah, so sorry about that. ***turned to Adebimpe, please take heart and stop crying ma, God will definitely provide another pregnancy for you.
BIMPE: *sobbing thank you.
NURSE: please sir, I need to leave now. Please make sure you get the drugs the doctor told you to get before his arrival.
HENRY: ok nurse, thank you very much. I will do that
NURSE: ****walked out of the ward*****
HENRY: Onihaxy, Please do me a favour
ME: What favour sir?
HENRY: I want to buy some drugs at the pharmacy, please can you stay here with my wife till I return?.
ME: ok sir, no problem sir.
Henry also stepped out of the ward and I was left their alone with Adebimpe, I sat down closer to her and I was petting her.
ME: sorry Adebimpe, “pele shogbo”
BIMPE: ***still sobbing and talking quietly**** thank you Onihaxy, I believe you are happy now abi?
ME: me?, happy?, why will you say something of such Adebimpe?, why should I be happy because of your miscarriage?
BIMPE: have you not been on my neck before now for an abortion?, Have you ever cared about the baby?, did you ever show any concern for the pregnancy?
ME: Bimpe, stop talking like this, this is not the right time and right place to discuss such issue, the wall has ears.
BIMPE: I heard you Onihaxy, But it’s so unfair, I know you must have been praying for something like this to happen to me. Who knows?, maybe what happened was even your handiwork.
ME: my handiwork kee?, how?
BIMPE: who knows?, maybe you have contact some spiritualist to make sure that I lose this pregnancy so as not to give birth to him.
ME: stop talking like that Bimpe, I know how much this thing pained you, I know how much you cherished the pregnancy and I clearly understand your situation, but that doesn’t mean I will be wishing you bad or contacting some spiritualist or something, you know me right from time that I don’t like such thing and will never engage in such. Believe me Bimpe, I have never for once wished you evil ever since we reconciled.
BIMPE: *still sobbing I heard you Onihaxy, how do I get another pregnancy again?, or are you ready to sleep with me again?
ME: covered her mouth shhhhhh, Stop saying that. When you are discharged and you are ok, we can talk further. But for now, please save your strength and get better please. Where is Daniella?
BIMPE: she is at home with Sarah.
ME: ok dear. I think I am hearing footsteps, it seems Henry is coming back. Please cheer up now.
BIMPE: *****silent and adjusted herself******
HENRY: came in two minutes later thank you Onihaxy.
ME: you are welcome sir.
HENRY: honey, I have bought your drugs, I saw the doctor when I was coming now and he said he will be here soon. He also said it’s likely that you will be discharged today.

HENRY: she is still crying ooooooo, I have been talking to her since to stop but she refused.
DOCTOR: its ok . Nurse Bimpe, please cheer up now. When you as a senior nurse could be doing like this, how will you console patients who comes here with same issue. it’s ok please. looked at me. Hello young man
ME: hello sir
DOCTOR: you face looked somehow familiar, it seems you were here when her daughter fell from the stairs and……….
ME: ****cut in***** yes, you are right, I was here and I came with my fiancé who happened to be Mr Henry’s sister. see this doctor oooo, is this how he would have implicate me??
DOCTOR: ok, nice seeing you again.
ME: you are welcome sir. How is her condition now and when will she be discharged?
DOCTOR: eeeehm, lets watch her till evening, but she should be discharged hopefully this evening or tomorrow morning.
HENRY: thank you very much doctor.
I stayed for few more hours with Adebimpe and Henry until late in the evening when I left the hospital after the doctor said Bimpe won’t be discharged until the next day, I got back home that night, laid down on my bed and was lost in mixed feelings of thoughts.
“what a sweet relief !!”
“one of my problems and obstacles have been removed”
“but Adebimpe was crying about how she was going to get another pregnancy”
“she was even asking me if I was going to make her pregnant again”
“does it mean that henry is impotent?”
“or what could be going on?”
“I hoped Henry didn’t overheard what Bimpe and I discussed?”
“that doctor even wanted to implicate me sha”
“thank God I didn’t let him finish his speech before I respond to him”
“I just pray that this doctor will not tell henry that I donated blood?”
“I hope DNA test will not be carried out?”
I was still lost in thoughts when my phone was ringing, I checked the screen and it was a call from Adebimpe…………

Out of fear, I couldn’t pick the call at the first ringing, I was imagining if the call was to inform me that henry had found out about us, I was also thinking about all the arrangements and plans that Henry was planning for me and how everything will be ruined as a result of the discovery.
After the end of the second dial, I picked up the third call.
BIMPE: Hello Mr Onihaxy, why aren’t you picking my calls?
ME: I’m sorry ma, I was in the bathroom when you called, how is your health now?
BIMPE: I’m fine thank you, thanks for coming to check on me
ME: you are welcome ma, where is your husband?
BIMPE: he is here beside me; do you want to speak with him?
ME: yes, please pass the phone to him.
Henry and I talked for few minutes and he also appreciate my visit and then he passed the mobile phone back to Adebimpe and we continued our conversation
ME: so, when will you be discharged?
BIMPE: tomorrow morning, I’m fine though but I just want to have a good bedrest before going back home.
ME: will henry be staying with you overnight?
BIMPE: no oo, he will be going back home tonight to look after Daniella, we don’t want to leave her in the custody of Sarah alone and I don’t want her to come here to the hospital because she might get scared and start crying. The nurses here will be with me through the night.

BIMPE: chuckled ok sir, thanks so much.

She dropped the call and I was so restless in the room as I began walking up and down the room, my mind began to imagine several things both the good and the bad, I started thinking about what could happen if Henry decided to conduct a DNA test after hearing from the doctor that my blood was a perfect match to that of Daniella, I imagined how Henry would call her sister to break up with me and expose everything, I thought of how my chances of travelling out would fail and how I was going to lose Betty totally.
At a time, I imagined Henry sending hired assassins to kill me at home, my mind was just so troubled that I couldn’t think straight again.
When it was few minutes to 10pm, Bimpe called me back and I didn’t hesitate to pick it up on time and we got talking.
ME: Hello Adebimpe, how are you?
BIMPE: I’m fine dear; it seems your phone didn’t ring out at all before you picked it. Have you been expecting my calls before now?
ME: it’s as if you know; hope I haven’t gotten into any trouble yet?
BIMPE: gotten into trouble as how?
ME: remember that the doctor wanted to talk about how I came to donate blood to Daniella back then before I cut in, I hope he didn’t tell henry about it?,
BIMPE: not at all, why would he tell henry when henry was already aware of it that you donated blood to Daniella.
ME: Haaa!!!, he was aware?
BIMPE: yes now, have you forgotten that he was on his way coming back from Abuja to donate blood when you came?, or have you forgotten that he appreciated you and even gave you money?
ME: ooooh, I remember. But hope he won’t be suspecting me?
BIMPE: not at all, you are just a Good Samaritan who has the same blood sample with Daniella and that was how you helped in saving her life. The truth is that, that single act you did has made henry to like you forever. His likeness for you started that same day.
ME: hmmmmmmmm, my mind is now at rest, I have been having a troubled mind since morning.
BIMPE: look at you, you are not even bold and courageous, a coward man like you.
We really had a lot of time to go into a long minute discussions that night that our conversations was over thirty minutes before hanging up.
Weekend was over and I resumed to work the following day which was Monday, Benita was still trying to get so close to me and also get my attention all in the name of getting my nomination, she decided to colonize me in the team and she was always jealous anytime she saw me playing with the other girls.
On Tuesday, I was surprised that she brought food for me; the entire team now sees us as husband and wife.
On Thursday, I went out to do biometric and data capture for my international passport and while driving back, I stopped by at a supermarket to shop for some provisions and I met Kemi again at the supermarket.
Kemi was the girl I met some months after Segun chased Adebimpe out of my house in Akure, I also met her on the internet and she was fond of always demanding for money and Airtime until Segun and I taught her a lesson of life.
When we met at the supermarket, I didn’t even recognize her until she called out my name.
KEMI: Onihaxy!!!!, is that you?
ME: ooooh, Kemi!!!!! ***We hugged each other**** longest time, where have you been?
KEMI: I’m fine oooo, it’s unfair Onihaxy, you just forget about me just like that
ME: I’m sorry Kemi, I changed my phone and I lost some contacts. How is study going?
KEMI: study is fine ooooo. I am through anyways and I am awaiting my NYSC.
ME: through?, so soon?
KEMI: haba, have you forgotten?, the last time we saw each other was four year and some months ago and I was in the second semester of my first year then.
ME: ooooh that is true oo. Do you live around here?
KEMI: yes, two streets away from here, I came here to get some stuff, What about you?
ME: I live in Maryland but my workplace is not too far from here.
KEMI: ok, let me have your number please.
Kemi and I exchanged numbers and I left the supermarket and I returned back to the office, worked for some hours until the close of business for the day.
When I got home, I missed Kemi’s messages on my whatsapp, I replied her and we got talking, she told me about her family, about her failed relationship and so many other things, she asked if I was the owner of the car I drove when she saw me and I told her I own it. She also asked about where I work and I told her the bank where I work.
Before I knew what was happening, Kemi told me that she was going to visit me over the weekend and I sent my address to her.
On Friday night, I was lying on my bed feeling so weak and tired. Earlier in the day, I doubled as a team lead and also did another role by standing in gap for a friend who was absent from work for that day.

I was in the bathroom when I heard the ringing of my phone, it rang thrice and when I came out, it was ringing for the fourth time and when I checked the screen, it was Adebimpe that was calling and I picked up.
BIMPE: Onihaxy, where did you put your phone that makes you not to pick up my call?
ME: I am so sorry Bimpe, I was in the bathroom when you called.
BIMPE: you were in the bathroom or one of your numerous girlfriends is around?
ME: haba Bimpe, if any girl is here, will I be talking to you beside her?
BIMPE: continue to pretend ehn, I know I will still catch you again one day.
ME: hmmmm, where is henry and Daniella?
BIMPE: henry travelled for a business meeting and Daniella is in her room
ME: eeyah, so you are now alone now?
BIMPE: yes oooo Onihaxy, and here is so boring. Will come around tonight?
ME: no oo, I can’t.
BIMPE: I know that is what you will say. You didn’t even ask of me since I was discharged.
ME: no now, I called you on Monday and Tuesday now.
BIMPE: is today not Friday?, what happened to Wednesday and Thursday?
ME: ok, I am sorry. Have you resumed work?
BIMPE: no, till Monday. I just want to take my time to rest very well. Henry, Daniella and I will be traveling out to Dubai in few weeks’ time for Easter break.
ME: waoooh, that is nice
BIMPE: you should be travelling also any moment from now. I heard your wife talking to her brother about a job or something and your name was mentioned.
ME: really?, I can’t wait oooo. Nigeria don tire me.
BIMPE: eeeehmm Onihaxy, please I need something from you and I will be the happiest woman on earth if you can give it to me. In fact, I don’t want anything else from you again after giving me this one.
ME: me?, you need something from me?, what could that be?
BIMPE: please promise me that you will give me.
ME: curious but I don’t know what you want
BIMPE: just promise me please.
ME: ok, I promise. Now tell me, what is it that you want from me?
BIMPE: Onihaxy please, I want you to impregnate me again before you leave Nigeria.

For a while, I was still shock on hearing what Bimpe said and my mouth was wide open, I wiped my face in other to wake up to reality in case I was sleeping.
BIMPE: hello Onihaxy, are you still there?
ME: ye …yeee…..yes.
BIMPE: then why are you silent and not talking?
ME: Adebimpe, tell me that you are joking
BIMPE: I am serious Onihaxy, I beg of you please.
ME: wait Adebimpe, don’t tell me that Henry is impotent.
BIMPE: no ooo, he is not.
ME: then why do you want a pregnancy from me when you have a man you are legally married to?
BIMPE: you won’t understand Onihaxy.
ME: then let me understand, that is exactly why I am asking.
BIMPE: ok, henry is fine and good. After the birth of Daniella, I tried conceiving again but it didn’t work until we both went to the hospital for a check-up. We were told that we are both sound and OK but yet, I couldn’t get pregnant until when you and I had s*x together.
ME: but wait Bimpe, you told me the other day that you conceived twice after the birth of Daniella and had miscarriages before this recent one.
BIMPE: hmmmmmmmmm, I am sorry I lied. I never conceived. But I can assure you that henry isn’t impotent
ME: but why did you have to lie to me Adebimpe?
BIMPE: I am so sorry Onihaxy, please help me. I swear to God that after this last one, I will never have anything to do with you again. Infact, if you say that you don’t want to ever see me again, I will accept it.

Immediately after Bimpe’s call, I began to think and ponder on what Bimpe said to me on phone.
“so, this girl want me to impregnate her again?”
“should I do it?”
“afterall, I will travel out of Nigeria very soon and we would never have to see each other again”

I slept off in the midst of my thoughts until I was woken up by a call from Kemi on my phone at 7am on Saturday morning, she called to tell me that she would be coming to my place by 9am and that she won’t be staying for long.
I got up from the bed, cleaned up my room, removed the cobwebs on the ceiling, went out to buy a pack of condom from a nearby Aboki and was preparing for her arrival.
She arrived at some minutes past 9am and I went outside to pick her and led her to the room, I entertained her with a drink and I began to strategize on how to hit her jackpot.
KEMI: sat down on the bed Onihaxy, you have a very nice apartment.
ME: **drew closer to her*** thanks so much dearie
KEMI: I have really missed you oooo, infact, I never knew I could see you again after all this while. What about your brother?, how is he?

KEMI: that cool, but since when have you been in Lagos?
ME: **** why is this one asking questions now?**** like over a year now. I have missed you seriously, I tried contacting you after I lost my phone that time but I couldn’t reach you
KEMI: eeyah, I tried reaching you too. we were still in the mood of discussion and I realized that I have wasted over an hour without making any hit, I decided to move a little bit closer to her and placed my hand on her neck.
There was no resistance and I stylishly placed my other hand on her lap in a disguise of complimenting her gown, the konji in me started getting alive and I was about to take a step further to kiss her when she halt me by saying “Onihaxy, please I want to talk to you, I have a problem”.
I got relaxed instantly, gave a little gap and I was like “just as it was in those days, she will always have a problem”.
ME: sweetheart, what is the problem dear?, talk to me.
KEMI: it’s a little problem dear, Iwill be happy if you can help me out.
ME: let me hear it dear.
KEMI: I told you that I am awaiting my youth service right?
ME: yes, you did.
KEMI: ok, I decided to register for a professional course in ICT instead of waiting at home. I have paid for the training and I am supposed to start on Monday
ME: that is good; it’s a very nice idea. It’s better than staying idle at home.
KEMI: thank you dear, but I just have a little problem. I need a laptop for the course and the laptop I want to purchase is N75,000 while the whole money I have on me is less than thirty thousand naira. Please help me Onihaxy, I don’t mind any amount please.
ME: ** this girl is insane ooooo, coming to visit me for the first time and still demanding money from me?, this girl will never change**** eehhhhhmmm Kemi, I am not too buoyant at the moment ooooo.

On Monday of the following week, Kemi’s call was the first call I received after when my alarm woke me up, she called that early morning to remind me of the money for her laptop which she asked from me earlier.
On getting to the office, our supervisor bumped into our morning meeting to remind us that the project will be ending in two weeks’ time, he told us that the last lap was the best time to express the best of our services to the bank, especially those people who would want to be retained after the project.
He talked about some errors he detected in the previous week’s work and urged us to go back to our works and rectify all the errors before escalating to the superiors where there would be no remedy.
During break time, Betty also called to tell me that she would be rounding up in three weeks’ time and I was so happy, she also told me that she wanted to relocate from her present city to another city because her daddy might decide to trace her to the place, she told me that she and henry have been making plans for job over there that would be giving me at least a million naira per annum income.
I was so happy on the phone that I started praising and appreciating her, she asked me if I was through with the international passport processing and I replied her that it should be ready in a week time maximum as I had already done the biometric and data capture. I left the office for the canteen after the call to have a lunch, Segun and I also had sessions of chat during the period I spent at the canteen and on getting back to my office, I had received a communication message in my outlook that all project team leads are to wait behind for a meeting with the management after the close of business for the day.
At the close of business for the day, I was on my seat while every member of my team was leaving one after the other. The last person to leave was Benita because she always helping me with daily reports sometimes when I couldn’t finish them on time.
After we were through with the report for that day, Benita noticed that I was sitting down comfortably and she enquired about why I wasn’t going home and I replied her that all team leads were told to wait behind after the close of business.
On hearing this, she threw her bag away to one side of the office and pulled a chair close to me, sat down and began to ask questions.

I just laughed out loudly as she was asking me those questions and I replied her that the meeting wasn’t for nomination, it was for the correction of errors detected in our works like what the supervisor told us earlier and to strategize on how to finish the entire project at most three days before the rounding up of the project so as to give room for proper inspection and reports.
Her mood changed instantly and she picked up her bag and walked out of the office. I also left the office immediately and I went to the meeting venue, I met some of the team leads, Funmilayo, our supervisor and some other top management staffs there and others joined us later.
The meeting started with a short prayer before proceeding to the business of the day. The management appreciated us for a good job well done and they admonished us to keep the spirit high for the remaining two weeks, they talked about some of the errors found in our team members’ work and urged us to make sure all errors are been rectified.
we all deliberate on an easy and fastest way to meet up with the project target on or before the next week Wednesday, every team member started bringing up ideas including me until we all reached a conclusion to adopt some steps and methods.
Lastly, the management told us that there will be space for eight people to be retained after the project and since we have a total of four teams, it means two people will be retained from each team.
They told us that they have the records and reports of every project team staffs on the excel which they will work with, but since we are the one closer to them than the management, we are too nominate two people each in terms of good attitude towards work and good team-spirit.

We were told that the nomination would end on Friday. So, we have just four days to submit our nominations and we were warned that we should not select people based on favoritism, relationship or tribe as the managements will do cross examination on every nominee before concluding on the selection. We were told to keep the meeting and discussion confidential and that they must not hear any gossip about it.
The management promised to sanction any team lead who defaults all the laid down terms and conditions, the meeting ended and I went home.
On getting home, Kemi called me to inform me that she had been calling my number since and it wasn’t reachable, she further asked me maybe she should send her account number to me or come to my house to collect the money.
I smiled and told her that I was unable to borrow from anybody as almost everyone close to me also operate on contract savings, after several pesters and teasing from Kemi, I promised to send N5,000 to her the following day as that was all I could afford at that moment, she grumbled and begged me to add to it as the amount was very small compared to the amount she needed, I then told her to wait till whenever I could get a bigger amount and I will send everything at once.
It seems she wasn’t cool with that option and also wanted to be on the safer side, she told me to send the N5,000 and that she would be expecting the rest later. I requested for her account number and promised to send it immediately.
After she dropped the call, an sms came in few minutes later containing her account number and a plea that I should please help her with about N30,000 to N40,000 so that she could get the laptop on time and resume for her professional trainings.
On seeing the message, I got angry and I shouted.
“look at this stupid girl?”
“N30,000 to N40,000 for what?”
“just how many days after seeing her again?”
“what did she even take me for sef?”
“Do I look like an ATM to her”
“infact, she won’t get the N5,000 again not to talk of getting higher than that”
I deleted her text out of annoyance and also delete her contacts from my phone that night before finally going to bed.
